Ronald Davis : Snaplines
The Greenberg Gallery is pleased to present Ron Davis Snaplines. The exhibition includes six large scale paintings and nine prints. The Snaplines series was created from 1975-78. The series combines geometric perspective and abstraction.
The paintings entail vast abstract backgrounds mimicking colorfields. The raw canvas allows for the paint and pigment to bleed and stain. Overlapping the beautiful abstract backgrounds are Snaplines, a construction tool, that creates form a two point perspective. The illusion creates dimension in a flat plane. The focus features shapes ranging from simple and basic to complex. The combination of abstract backgrounds and structured foregrounds create balanced and playful compositions, simple yet multifaceted.
